What Happens During The Massage?

This treatment requires an online consultation before your first session which will take 20-30mins.

Following your consultation, the massage will begin with deep, soothing and structural focus on your back/spine  and the muscles of your upper shoulders and neck. I will then release the areas around your scalp, facial area, and jaw (these are known as the muscles of mastication). We have over 40 muscles in our face that can become tight from stress and tension resulting in headaches and migraines.  I work not only with the muscles, but also the Nervous System to lower the intensity of chronic pain and support your body to enter the ‘Rest and Recovery’ state.

Everything is connected and the neck and jaw have a particularly close working relationship, so tension in your neck and shoulders can be causing or responding to tension in your jaw.

After your first treatment, you will feel a difference but due to the chronic nature of this condition, ongoing treatment may be required for a minimum 6 weeks.  We will also use the sessions to monitor your progress and to identify daily lifestyle factors to support your recovery.
